When starting a new site, one of the questions becomes
How do I get people visit? More importantly, How do I get people to visit often?
I did what every other Internet user would do, I searched. The best way I found to get more subscribers is to make it easy for people to sign-up.
I ran across two articles on DailyBlogTips HERE and HERE These two posts actually cover two different topics related to subscribers, e-mail subscriptions and RSS subscriptions.
So in the spirit of Open Source here is how I did it.
First head over to DagonDesign and pick up his Add Signature Plugin for WordPress. The install is brain dead easy. It is a simple script that you will upload into your plugins directory and enable like any other plugin for WordPress.
Instructions
- Download the above file, rename it from .txt to .php, and upload it to your plugins directory.
- Enable the plugin.
- Configure the plugin options (under DDAddSig).
- Test it out by viewing a post.
What this will do is create a HTML signature that show below every post is you desire. You can also create up to three different signatures and specifically apply them to a specific post if that need should arise.
So in my case I use feedburner for RSS so I simply went to feedburner.com and pulled the code and placed it in as my signature. Now you will need to assign classes like anything else in your template to get yours to format properly, but you get the gist of the idea.
